The very spacious, intensively green property with an established tree population, situated close to the eastern shore of lake Simssee, was originally built up with a one-storeyed residential house.

The object of the extension was to build a holiday home with the best possible view over the lake Simsee and into the mountains.

Therefore the living area was placed on the upper floor and by a 90-degree rotation the visual axis was set northwards to the lake and southwards to the alpine panorama. The effect of the new top floor that seems to hover over the existing building like a viewing platform is emphasised by the backdrop of the ground-floor area and the cantilevering of the balcony on the lakeside.
